Atari Football - New Pick-up

Well it looks like part of the prblem is a fuse, blown, but the screw cap is also broken. Can that fuse tube be replaced on the power supply panel?

Sure. It just bolts into the panel. There's a nut that holds it in from behind, and two wires that lead to it. You can replace it with any other sort of fuse holder - just disconnect the wires and hook it up to something else. Of course, if the holder itself isn't broken, and only the screw cap, you can replace just the screw cap part.

When I acquired mine, it had a broken fuse holder and replaced it with one I had in my tool box from misc. car stereo parts, wired it up and and it fired right up (fuse wasn't blown). Mine looked like it wasn't powered up for 15 years and hardly used as it had no burn in and sitting in an older persons basement(that looked like it was still 1980) and got a few rare 80's posters. It is scary and exciting when you power up something that old not knowing what is going to happen. I don't want to say how much I paid for mine, but I wish I was able to keep it, had to sell because I needed the $ and was jobless at the time.

Dude! Thats an easy fix. you can either order a replacement fuse holder online..or get one from a local electrical supply place. I bet once you fix that ..it will fire right up.

Well what do you know, it really was just a fuse. :D

This was my best pick-up to date IMO. Even the wife played a game with me. Now just to clean it up and keep the screen from jumping while rolling the trackballs.

AWESOME!! For the screen roll just do the usual maintenance on the connections.. check for cold solder on the monitor chasis.. cap it.

It's a little after the fact, but sometimes you can remove locks by freezing them with one of those canned aired duster-thingies by holding the can upside down so just coolant comes out, then after it get's really cold bang a screwdriver down the middle and it'll crack and the back half will fall in. I tried this with a Turbo mini I have, it worked like a charm and didn't leave a mark.

I need to clean and replace a few parts on the trackball assembly. It is a little rough and sounds like a Mac truck when you roll it during game play. Just spining by itself is ok, but not during a game. Grace said that damn thing is loud.

Yeah..BITD we would beat the crap outta that game playing it. Still very envious of your score. Congrats.

Yeah once you rebuild the trackballs you'll be getting a workout. I remember being hunched over that game and working up a sweat trying to make that trackball go as fast as possible to get my guy to the goal.

See that is another reason that arcade games are awesome and great for kids:

1) Eye/hand coordination
2) Physical activity (Atari Football)
3) Mental activity
