Well I have an Atari Football that has been in a home since 1983! It is non-working at the moment, but that is because I cannot get it open, no keys. So before I drill the locks, does anyone want to pick the locks? Games looks to be in pretty good shape. There is a small gash in the back (Side opposite coin door). Other then that it is not too bad. I'll post pics tonight as I grabbed it so late last night. I found a great home for it, the foyer of my house! (Wife never said a word when she say it last night before bed. :D

I think having one of those in the house during football season is great! There are one or two threads around here about repairing this game if you search a little. Definitely would love to find one of these some day.

I have used a larger screw driver and channel locks to rotate the locks enought ot open. I doesn't always work but it you get one open sometimes you can take the others apart once inside.

Atari Football always has a specialy place in my heart since it's one of the first games that I remember playing BITD. I always said that I wanted one, but I don't have enough room and also none of my friends like my games so I wouldn't have an opponent. Congratulations on your pickup and I hope you get that fired up real soon.

I'll give that a try first. I really do not like drilling locks.

I found a cool website about a guy that restored one. Bought all the parts from Ram Controls. Is Dave a good guy? :p

Easier to drill it out and then vaccum the inside of the cab. I bet you get in and its a simple fix like a fuse. BTW post up some pics of the game!

IOUWC I could pick that lock for ya.
Try rotating the lock first as suggested earlier.
Lock pick kits are cheap and it's a blast when you finally break into your own machine.

Allot of locks are those with the circle key, damn I forgot the name of them, you would haft to drill those

The round key locks are pick'able too but more difficult. If its just a single cam lock then that's cake. If its round, best bet is drill the f'ckr

Funny Conversation I had with Zud about this game

Zud:I'm picking up a 2 plyr xo football tomorrow
GD:Nice I owe you some payback on that game, Working?

Zud:No but it used too. LOL
GD:LOL prob a fuse

Zud:I was told a switch
GD:Those are easy to fix

The "No but it used too", made me laugh during a stressful day at work!

Hehe. I love that line. "It used to work just fine!". Yes, of course it did. It worked when Atari made it in 1979. That we can be sure of. Anything after that, however, is open for debate.

I am glad you like my humor. Now you need to get Grace on the same page.

I have a pick set now, so that lock will be open as soon as I am paroled at 5pm.

Well no need to drill, 15 minutes with the pick set. Found a set of keys when I got in too. Looks like I bad fuse and 1 bad fuse screw cap, and 1 specially wired fuse. Will look into it tomorrow when I have more light. Here are the pics:

That's a pretty nice one. Would you be willing to measure the rectangle piece of wood attached the door - the stop that's probably 1/2" thick? And how much it overlaps the door? I'd really appreciate it. I have a "roached out" cabinet that I'm going to rebuild, missing the door.
