... and a few B/W vectors such as AST DLX, BZ/RB etc ... yah?

Unfortunately, that is a mistake..Those bricks only work in the International versions of the Asteroids Deluxe, Battlezone, and Red Baron games. Look at the later versions of the operating manuals and you will see that is the case. Atari made some mistakes in their earlier manuals. Battlezone version 3 specifically addresses the transformer issue. Version 1 is for the International version only. I always had a hard time understanding this so I did a little research. You will need to use the proper plug to convert the power as well on those A035888 transformer bricks in the International version. I think it has to do with the Hz of European power. 50HZ European vs. 60 HZ US. I'm sure the smart people will chime in here. I have yet to find a A035888 brick in ANY version of Battlezone, Asteroids Deluxe, or Red Baron I have picked up over the years here in the good ol US of A. In addition, the A036354-01 version transformer is missing the voltage adapter plug socket and adapters found on the International version. In other words, there is a big hole there. I'm getting ready to post a power brick identification thread to stop the misinformation that is out there. Fortunately I have several different bricks to highlight the differences. Not your fault. It's just that people used Alex's post as gospel and it is only partially correct.

What is the actual difference in the output voltages, then?

The BZ schematic (DP-156, 2nd Printing) shows:

1, 2, 3 = 10.6VDC
4, 5, = GND
6 to 7 = 36VAC CT
8 to 9 = 6.3VAC (with pin 8 key)
10 to 12 = 60VAC (with pin 11 CT)
13 to 15 = 60VAC (with pin 14 CT)

The Millipede schematic (SP-217, 1st Printing) shows the same voltages and pinout.

Unless you're trying to use these internationally, why are they not interchangeable?
(Note I haven't tried it, but now I'm curious.)

Yes, I'm curious about this now too. Looking at the AD schematics DP-165-3rd-01A which shows both international and US wiring diagrams for the power supply, the only difference I see is in the transformer taps on the input side as well as the voltage selection jumper plug. On the US version, it's just hard wired to 120V, where as on the international version it's setup to be configured with the jumper plug to 100V, 120V, 220V or 240V. I'm not seeing why either of these can't be used for 120V input voltage.

My guess as to why there are two versions is maybe they did this as a cost savings measure since a majority of the games would be for the US market (so less windings needed to step the voltage down). It would be interesting to know if the Irish BZ and ADs have the international power brick in them.

I could see where there might be a need to reconfigure the jumper plug if the brick originally was used in an international location and was now being used in the US.

I am curious as well if there is more to the story than this, but that's all that is apparent to me at the moment.

I'm working on a greatly expanded list of the Atari transformer list, so we should share our individual research.

I have spent a little time looking over the information and I may have spoken too soon. I'm still searching for answers and will try to share what I have found. We probably need to start a new thread instead of highjacking this one

I'm interested to see what additional brick info you guys have compiled over what's on the ElektronForge page. (Not that I'm doubting you, just curious to know.)

I have several ideas for new docs that could be written, and an Atari brick FAQ has been on the list for some time, as I've compiled my own ideas for stuff that could be documented more/better/more conveniently/etc, mostly on the repair and pinout/testing/parts side.

Maybe a new thread is a good idea. I'll be happy to contribute when that happens.

Everything I have is in my cranium. I have looked up other bricks and researched part numbers in the past. I'd like to make a wiki with photos to assist people

As we've totally derailed the OP's FS post, let's take this discussion to another thread. I can post what I have already compiled, which will allow others to contribute and that should give us a much better, overall dataset.
