Atari Buys Intellivision

I don't see the point of the Atari name surviving to be honest. There's nothing I'm gonna buy from them in the next 20 years.
They were over with Tetris or at latest with Hard/Race Drivin'. For home console, besides the 2600, nothing really sold well.
Intellivision was just a home console vendor and can't be compared to an arcade vendor.

I would hope they make a modern vector tempestaroides , but probably would make more money selling the kids billy eyelash skins or something like that.

Are they going to release a console that has both Atari and Intellivision games present? Problem is the Intellivision controllers are different.

I never played any IV games and used any of the overlays on the controllers though.

That Sirius/XM &USFL/XFL things are working out so well. It is just irrelevant brands trying to consolidate

I have to say, who really cares what they do with the name?

It was dead. It's been dead. The real Atari is never coming back.

Get over it.

The new owners can start selling Atari shaped Popsicles for all I care.

Hopefully they have something cool planned, who knows.

Yes, Atari will never be the same, and they should have left it alone, but here they are, at least trying to push it forward.

And yes, for money. Of course for money, but I bet they are true gamers themselves, and I bet they really want to Make Atari Great Again!

So I say we should at least let them have their day, and see what comes of it.

Who knows there could be something cool coming down the line.

Or on the other hand, maybe in 1982 some ten year old kid said that one day he was going to own Atari. And when he grew up and became rich, he did just that.

I don't know either way, I'm just glad we are still talking about Atari honestly.

As for Intellivision, I bet they start selling new carts for collectors, and even some unreleased games, like they did for the Atari 2600.

And hell, once they make some cash off of Intellivision, maybe they will buy Colecovision and others.

Remember, in the minds of a lot of people, Atari was the 2600 and nothing else. No arcade, no computer, just the home console. And there are TONS of 2600 collectors out there, so with Atari releasing new carts and repops of the original, and even collectors editions and unreleased games as well, maybe that is the direction they are going.
