Greetings Everyone,

A question was asked about reproducing the Audio board used in the Atari 720 Arcade. I am currently finishing up a reproduction of audio board for the Gauntlet 1 & 2. The question at this time is how much interest would there be in a reproduction board, that uses modern components. This board is used in Champion Sprint, Super Sprint, APB, Road Blasters and 720 Degrees arcade cabinets.

As a reference point the Gauntlet audio board is going to cost $48 + shipping, this board has a few more components. My guess is that it will range from $50 - $75 + shipping, please understand this is a rough but educated guess. I have not priced out all the components yet, i am simply attempting to gauge interest.

If you know of any other Arcades that uses this board please let us know.

Thank you
Jason

"Audio II"

The AR2, or "Audio/Regulator II" is a different animal.

I'd take at least one for Gauntlet.

Edit:
These are also used in System II games that don't use the ARIII, like Super Sprint. Champ Sprint deds (Paperboy uses ARIII), and I recall they are also in RoadBlasters system 1 deds (Star Wars metal handles on yoke).

Yeah, what pat9000 said. AR2 means something different to most Atari folks here.

I'd recommend editing your thread title, to make it more accurate, and let people searching for it in the future find it more easily. (Also, put the applicable games in the title as well, and you'll get more takers, guaranteed.)

You can edit the thread title by going to Edit -> Go Advanced.

confusing ...

On the Gauntlet boards i will have the bare board available for $36 + Shipping.
the fully populated board will run $48+ Shipping.

Keep in mind this reproduction is not exactly like the original board, they do not make axial ceramic caps much any more so i had to use disc versions instead. This also helped to keep costs low.

These are KLOV prices i will be selling them on Ebay for more to recoup for my time.

Thanks
Jason

I would be interested in one. Looks like I can get a cap kit for it, but not entirely sure that will work. My championship sprint sound just stopped and the sound pot isn't working and the test switch is intermittent.

So let me know if you've got any as I can seem to find any out there.

Greetings All,

Looks like there is enough interest in this to do a run, i have gone ahead with spec'ing out parts and was able to find original replacements of all the components which prompted a redesign of the Gauntlet board. This means that this board and the Gauntlet audio boards will have the same look and function as the originals.

My plan is to do a 25 PCB run of the board, i will make them available both as a bare PCB and a populated board (plug in and go).

I could use some help though, if someone has a board that they are willing to take some large (more MP the better) pictures of the board in various angles this helps me reproduce the trace routing. The other option (easier for me/faster) is if someone has a board and is willing to loan it to me i will return your board and a reproduction board for free in exchange.

Final pricing will be made available once i have a PCB quote from the Manufacturer.

Thank you
Jason

I have a spare one I could loan... also - these can also be used in paperboy. When you convert an original champ sprint to Paperboy it still uses this board...

add me to this list if this works in Championship Sprint. Pretty sure it's the same.
