Atari assembly routing tag — anyone seen these before

A couple recent threads had some interesting Atari factory paperwork mentioned (Centipede Cabaret build sheet, Gravitar PCB repair tag).

This Space Duel cab I picked up had this Assembly Routing Tag staple to the inside of the right side, by where the monitor goes. Never seen one before, so figured I'd share.

This is from fairly early in the run, it has s/n 00833.

Don't think I have seen one of those before.

Supposedly the serial numbers for early Atari games were randomly assigned, as to confuse the competition on the number of games actually in the wild.

Thanks for sharing.

I've found them in several of my Atari cabs. My HUO Space Duel has one, as well as my Pole Position, and Gravitar.

I assumed they all had them originally, and most have been removed and/or just fallen off over time. They just look like a QA sign-off tag. I don't know that they provide any interesting info beyond that.

i had one in some Atari game i have since sold (i think Centipede though i've had a bunch of Atari cabs and can't recall for sure.) kinda cool to see some of that documentation still hanging around.

I used to have a Space Duel with a tag similar to that. However, it was not a final assembly tag. It was from the wood shop. I wish I had taken a pic of it. It said something about passing inspection in the wood shop. IIRC, it had more than one pull off copy still attached.
