Hi,

I'm playing with my Gravitar and the sound is coming across sounding like it's varying in volume. I've narrowed this down to a connection/wiring issue, and found that jumpering the ARII-04's P8 pin 3 white (spkr 2) to P8 pin 2 green (speaker return/speaker ground) would make the sound normalize. However, I do not want to fry anything in my boardset so rather than make that a permanent solution, or re-wiring the cab entirely, can someone tell me what effect that would have on the game and AR-II boards to leave it like that?

Before hitting reply and saying to swap out <component x>, I have done the following:
1. Swapped ARII, Gravitar board, and transformer assembly for known good Space Duel components, no effect.
2. Tried testing with speakers swapped for known good 4 and 8 ohm, no effect
3. Disconnected all speakers, monitor, control panel, volume/test assembly, coin door, and wired speaker directly into ARII, no effect
4. Speaker hooked to test leads on ARII = good

I cannot QUITE swap out the complete harness with Space Duel as P8 and another connector are wired differently for Gravitar than Space Duel.

Thanks!

I would say fix the problem, not the symptom.

Hence, my post here asking for help understanding the problem.

Sorry was replying more to the tittle rather then what I actually quoted.

If you hook the speaker directly up to the test leads and it works fine, I would say you have an issue with the connector since the test leads are between the connector and the circuit. Maybe they are not making very good contact.
