atari arabian

I'll bump an almost year old thread, sure.

Started playing Arabian in MAME a few nights ago because I like Kangaroo and to me it is like a combination of the mid 80's platform/labryinth games and Kangaroo.

I'm up to 140k so far, I think it's Section 3-4 and am kinda diggin' it.

I hate Kangaroo, but think Arabian is pretty cool. It plays great in MAME, but still a game I wouldn't mind owning.

i know where a nice arabian cabinet with sideartwork is in the midwest, but everything else was converted to bowling/or golf including marquee. i'll give you contact info if you IM if you don't have any luck out there and want to go through the hassle of figuring out shipping.

Thanks. But tracking that other stuff down might be tough. Doesn't hurt to look into it though. Pm sent! Anyone else have any leads on an Arabian?

Wow....that's a pretty good score!

I usually roll it once then choke on the second go-around of the flying rug level - despise that level!

For shits and giggles, I put on invinciblity to see all the different *ending* intermissions. Ater awhile, it wound up repeating..

Reminds me... still need to get one of these - preferably w/ immaculate sideart

I had that one break out game a few nights ago with 140k and now I only have a few games over 100k. Weird game like that, got some random enemy movements to it even if the location of the pots stays the same.

I just realized that you don't need to collect all the pots at least on the 4th screen where you rescue the girl. That is helpful so you don't have to go get the one all the way on the right on the higher levels. Plus I don't think it's possible to get them in order any way on Section 2, Level 4 since one out of order one is blocking the path?

Do you have to get them all on the other stages or does every stage end once you pick up the "N" pot on the stage?

You have to pick them all up on all the other stages. The 4th stage, the goal is to rescue the girl. Which version are you playing, Atari or Sun? The Atari version is alot harder. On the Sun version, you can fall all the way to the bottom and not die, on Atari, you can only fall a short distance (this makes the 3rd stage alot harder)

Interesting... I usually play the 'Atari" version.

I always thought you had to get ALL the pots. I do try to get them in order to spell "Arabian". But, the farther you express - it's damn near impossible! The genie is almost popping up everytime you get close to pot you're going after.

Definitely a cool game. But the diificulty does ramp up pretty quickly....

Sun I believe? Whatever the Arabian parent set is in MAME. 3 + 1 lives. I'll have to try the Atari version tonight.

Yeah, Sun is the parent set, and the one TG tracks. Both are tracked at MARP, of course. Atari's has different background music too.

Not being able to fall as much is going to force me to use a few different patterns lol. That's a big difference in gameplay depending on how much leinency you get.

A tip of my hat to you guys with enough space to collect B and C list games that are still fun to play. These games belong in collections but usually get bounced because of other constraints. It's great to see them.
