atari arabian

Not too common but they are out there. Most people agree the game play is pretty bad but the cabinet art work is really cool. Personally I would only pay $150-200 for a nice condition arabian but I know there are a select few collectors who might pay $300-400. Possibly because they don't come up for sale too often. I would own one for the art but the game play is so disappointing IMO I doubt I would turn the game on much.

We bought ours for $50 minus the monitor and it was a bit damaged from tipping forward onto the front. Fixed the cabinet and put a monitor in it and while the gameplay is a bit hokey... it's addictive if you have someone to play against for score. My son and I will have days where we play 50 games of Arabian just to best each other by a couple hundred points. ;)

I had always wanted one and eventually found one that had been converted to a Neo Geo.
I was able to find the parts to convert it back - and finally Arabian is in my personal collection.

Game play is weak and the sounds are annoying - but my wife like it - so it will stay in my collection.

Here are some pics of mine

Heh... only thing we're missing in that row is a Kangaroo... which the wifey has already told me to get if there's ever the chance. :)

I like Arabian too. Don't see that one much, although I did play the one at Videotopia, one in a private collection in 2008, and at the local arcade BITD. I play it in MAME too.

game play is ok, cab artwork is awesome, hope to find one oneday, already have a Centipede,Dig Dug, & Kangaroo.

Your wife is cool. So is mine, she's very supportive of my hobby, but she would never suggest that I buy a game. And I know it's worked for some guys in here, but she would be pissed if I bought her a game as a present for a special occasion. :)

I'll bump an almost year old thread, sure.

Started playing Arabian in MAME a few nights ago because I like Kangaroo and to me it is like a combination of the mid 80's platform/labryinth games and Kangaroo.

I'm up to 140k so far, I think it's Section 3-4 and am kinda diggin' it.

I played it a few times back at CAX '09 and loved it. If anyone is looking for an official Atari Marquee translite for the game, I have one.

Wow....that's a pretty good score!

I usually roll it once then choke on the second go-around of the flying rug level - despise that level!

For shits and giggles, I put on invinciblity to see all the different *ending* intermissions. Ater awhile, it wound up repeating..

Reminds me... still need to get one of these - preferably w/ immaculate sideart
