Game started getting glitchy: adding time in strange increments, a rollerball turning unresponsive without an apparent mechanical problem. We accidentally discovered that putting one of the coin slot's ground wires to the frame made the game work again—for awhile. Not smart, but we had games to play.
It seems there were grounding issues in the coin door area/wires, apparently now fixed. But now it will accept time for a new game, but not initiate the game. Clicking the play call button neither shows a light nor calls a play to start the game. It also will not switch into test mode (which, btw, showed ram ok, rom ok even while jerry-rigged)
Tech who looked at it believes the board was going bad and has now gone, which makes sense to my very limited understanding, but before we embark on the replacement/repair saga, I thought it makes sense to ask the experts. Tech also replaced audio reg board, which was drawing too many amps, I think.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
P.S. My friend and I play the game 2-handed, i.e., in 4-player mode. Anyone else play that way?
