Creating a new topic here as to not hijack the thread in the FS section any more... :) (original thread is here: http://forums.klov.com/showthread.php?t=119608)

Jawhn,

It appears that mine is identical to the one pictured below. I will take some pictures to get confirmation...

B

Sixer means it has 6 switches on the front instead of four. Needs to have the woodgrain pattern on it, and the way to tell if it's a '77 is the lower/bottom front corners have a smooth curve to them that the later models didn't.

This picture shows it really well:

Once you've seen both, it's easy to tell the difference. I have a light sixer myself.

Here's a frontal to show the differences...

Notice the angle on the front corners. Ultimately, they're both the same. Much nicer than the 4 switch model with the difficulty switches moved to the back and using cheaper switches.

Growing up we had a Sears "Tele-Games"... same thing as a VCS ... 6 buttons... it had to be the pre-77 model we had it when we moved to Ontario CA in January of 1977...

Just kills me to think about what I did 5 years ago...

My parents retired and moved 3000 miles to be near their only child.

They happily gave me back all of my shit that they toted around for the last 15 years.

The stash included 3 complete Atari systems and a few others (Nintendo, Sega). I remember going through the boxes. I said to myself "this is all trash now" and took it all to the dump.

I had about 70 Atari games and probably 50 Nintendo games.

Seeing this thread just made me think of what a dumbass I am.

The one I have is definitely the heavy sixer, then...

Yeah, some of the carts I have are "Tele-games"

i used to have a heavy sixer as well as a vader 2600. don't have them anymore as i just don't really play the 2600 now that i have arcade games.

Ha! I laughed so hard I got some beer up my nose, thanks a lot.

If you plan on using your 2600, do yourself a favor and get a Harmonry cartridge. I have one, and love it. It is basically a 2600 cartridge with a SD card slot so you can load any or all the 2600 games ever made.

Check it out on AtariAge:

But didn't we all play to death at home our Atari when we couldn't be at the arcade?

My friends, there is room for both...

and a Colecovision

and a Intellivision

and a ..

That thing is only 32k, so it won't hold all the 2600 games ever made.

I am glad I have a Cuttle Cart 2 for my 7800. I used to have 2, but sold one about a year ago for 400 bucks. Anyone want another cuttle cart 2? only 500 for my last one.

I bought a "heavy-sixer" at a Salvation Army store about 10 years ago. All manuals, accessories, etc. Box, foam inserts, everything pristine. $6.

They made a ton of these things. I don't understand some of the prices they fetch nowadays.

Read again - it can take a 32GB SD card, which is more storage than you would ever need for EVERY 2600 game ever made, including homebrews. I believe a 2GB would probably do the trick.

CC2 carts are overpriced and not worth it. We're talking about console games from the 70's and 80's. If you really want 7800 performance, you can get a better experience with an Atari 8 bit computer for a fraction of the price.

i have over 2500 atari roms and they take up less than 9MB of space.

So what's the deal with this "Heavy sixer"? Is it valuable or just the 1st edition or what?

Yep, just went back and read it again and I am right

Binary files larger than 32KB, Supercharger multi-load files larger than 33KB, and Atari 5200 and 7800 files, will not work with the Harmony cartridge.

Some of the best games are unplayable on the harmony. Sure it does cost less because it is still in production, but I actually have every 2600 and 7800, plus the 512k homebrews playable on the cc2. Far superior in my opinion.

nope, it uses up to a 32GB SD card

I understand that, but what you aren't getting is that it only supports up to a 32k GAME you can put as big of a card in there as you want, but it aint going to play a 512k game no matter how many copies you put on your sd card.

Take a look at the specs. Card size doesn't matter one bit

What Atari 2600 game is 512K?

Aside from homebrew and Supercharger games, every original Atari 2600 game is under 32K.
