Damnit, damnit, damnit. How did I miss this? :( All arcade versions, too. Argh. Ah well, got a few on the way already, and might be getting some off of SHADOWMOSES...

But still. This was the best 'arcade collection' I've seen so far...

I saw it right after he posted, but didn't have access to mine to see what I needed.

You're right though - it was a nice collection of carts!

I have a box of carts in my garage... I can take a look if you like.

I also have a 2600 & a 5200 if anyone cares...

Well, SHADOWMOSES has stepped up to offer me some that he has... So depending on price. But I'll definitely take a look at what you have!

Ditto on the 2600, if it's a 1977 CA Heavy Sixer. (working, I have a broke one now)

I will take a look.

How do I know if its a 1977 CA Heavy Sixer?

Sixer means it has 6 switches on the front instead of four. Needs to have the woodgrain pattern on it, and the way to tell if it's a '77 is the lower/bottom front corners have a smooth curve to them that the later models didn't.

This picture shows it really well:

The Atari arcade ports are fun. This is why arcades were so great back in the day. I played lots of 2600 Asteroids and all the others, while a nice conversion it just doesn't measure up to the arcade game. Some games were just barely close to the arcade game either because of short production times or just trying to do way too much with the 2600. It wasn't until the late 80's home systems could do proper arcade ports, from the early 80's. The arcade systems still kicked ass over home systems. And nobody but the Vectrex ever came close to the vector games, too bad the color version never made it out.

Most every classic game and some mid to late 80's games got ported to the 2600 but some start to get expensive. A Spy Hunter or a Tapper is easily $20+, Crazy Climber $70+. The one advantage some of these games have though is variation. Space Invaders has 112 different versions of the game on the cart so once you get bored you can play something (slightly) different.

parabolic, make sure you go to Atariage.com and d/l the manuals for the games so you can see all the variations. Also the way the switches are set on a 2600 even the black/white switch will affect gameplay and even sometimes a game requires a second controller so reading the manuals really make the 2600 experience much better.

There have been some amazing homebrew games and hacks that have made almost arcade perfect ports of some games. You would be amazed what some people have pulled off on the 2600. If you have or are interested in a 2600 please check out Atariage.com, read the instructions and get a hack or two. :)
