At long last... Space Invaders Deluxe project approaches completion!

OK, truth be told, I've not been 'in the scene' for quite some time lately, but a recent excursion into cleaning the garage out has made for my simple repair a foreseeable reality! For years, I would brush by the SID cab, but now - I can actually access the rear door!

This means, in theory, that the 'upgrade kit' that I bought online several years ago to bypass the malfunctioning gfx chips on the motherboard could actually result in a simple 'plug-and-play' solution to getting this game working again!

Joy of joys! :)

The ability to actually open the garage door behind three of my project cabinets for the first time in over half a decade gave me the inspiration for this post. The sudden realization that I once again have access to the back panels of three games that were destined to butt up for all eternity against a wall of flattened cardboard boxes (holy shit! I found a tool box I forgot I even had!) inspired this thread.

Unfortunately, the tool box was empty, much to my dismay, save one Black and Decker drill set in a handy folding clamshell case.

My recent garage reorganization has given rise to the prospect of reviving my project cabinets, and a renewed interest in a much-loved hobby that I've been horribly neglecting for the past few years...
