I finally picked up the Space Duel I have been trying to get for a year or more. The owner has been listing it and re-listing it every 6 months or more. Everytime it was listed on CL, I either didn't have transportation, money, or space. Well this weekend I guess the planets aligned right and I pulled it off. I paid $250, which is more than I would normally spend on a non-working game. But, it's a vector, that counts for a lot. Also, it's in excellent shape, not perfect, but pretty close. The insides are all original and un-hacked. I cleaned it up a little today and checked a few voltages, but it's still quite dead. What do you think?

Nice pick up! Shit the monitor is worth $250 and it's an awsome game! Keep us updated on your progress. Start with the power brick cause if big blue is dead nothing will work.

Looks like a bit of discoloration on the upper left side and a few dings on the far back of the right side, basically not anything that glares at you if it's in a row. The CPO looks fantastic, and the rest of the view you get while playing it look to be great, you got a real nice cab at a pretty reasonable price, well done. :)

Nick pickup. Space duel is a great game!

Keep it simple. if its doa, start at cord, then switch, then main fuse. Once you confirm AC to the transformer brick, then you can start looking for other things.

True dat! My Spy Hunter was dead when I bought it and it was just a bad power cord. :p

congrats, was this the one for sale in Altamonte Springs on CL?
if so I was gonna look into getting it to build a BW.
I would check the big blue first and then go from there.

Nice dude! Space Duel is an awesome game, with GREAT artwork. Now you just need a pic sleeve of "Athena" by The Who on 45. ;)

Nicely done! I don't think you can even get the side art for that cheap...? :D

SD is a very fun game.

wtf is up with everyone wanting to rape these and Gravitars to make a Black Widow? Get the real thing - Robotron!

That's the pattern I've started to notice. First replace damaged power cord, then rebuild power brick, and up to AR/II. That's my plan anyway. I am just a little worried, as there aren't any lights lit on the monitor.

Anyway thanks for the comments, and yes, it was the one in Altamonte Springs.

don't worry about the monitor get game sound first. Do you get power to the pcb? Get game sound first and then worry about the monitor.

You don't have to replace, just check to see you have AC to the transformer block. Once you have power there, then you can look into rebuilding.

I have the solid lit player buttons, had this on my Centipede and a big blue fixed it. Big blue already on the way from Bob.

Keep your fingers crossed, I had a SD PCB once do that but something was wrong with the board. Make sure all the dips are set correctly too being I think some of the vector games had a "freeze mode" for what ever reason.

In order to fix it... it belongs at my house.

I love SD!

you caught a good one. Fix it and play the poop out of it.

I would unplug the monitor, check the lock outs, fuses, power switches, then check the brick.

enjoy

I am jealous

NICE! Space Duel is my fav game all time. I have been trying to find one here in Canada for years. Nice score...
