Finally, I am one MAJOR step closer to finishing my extensive Bride of Pinbot restoration. I enlisted the services of Christopher Hutchins (HEP = High End Pins) for the playfield restoration, clear coat and rework.

I will have a complete restoration thread posted soon for this machine.... but for now enjoy the pics courtesy of HEP....

That looks great. The reflections make it looks like a better than perfect automotive finish. The real shame is you'll be slamming metal balls around on that pristine surface in the near future:(, but that's what it's for.
Nice stuff!!

I've been following that, it looks beautiful! There is no one better than Chris.

Just curious what does he charge to do work like that ?, I know he gets between 2500 to 4500 for a complete pin restoration did not see anywhere
mentioned on playfield restoration and clear coat.

Looks AMAZING!!!

I would also like to know how much he charges if we disassemble our own PF and send it to him...

I'm pretty sure you'd need to disassemble anyway. It's MUCH easier to ship a disassembled playfield and if you're paying for someone else's labor, you'd save a lot by doing that work yourself.

That's right Jar. A playfield has to be shipped completely disassembled and shipped bare wood for something like this. Otherwise, you need to ship the entire game to him for restoration. It was well over $500 for this service, but he's one of the best guys out there who does this type of thing. Others do this too, but you get what you pay for in most cases.

Absolutely but IMO, $500 seems like it's not a bad deal at all with how nice his work is AND if it's a game you plan on keeping forever and being burried with, :)

wow, that bop playfield looks beautiful tim!

looks like you could eat dinner off that thing.

this guy does amazing work, just looked at some of his other pin restores. solid work .... he does (in my best yoda voice).

mos def worth the $$.

That's actually really reasonable, I think, it looks so, so nice.

Ever since watching Rob and Steve's Life After Death video where they tear one of these down and put it back together I've been really itching to do it. The problem is that I keep blowing my restore budget on other games.

New playfields are coming out for the game right now, so it's still possible I may get to my machine this year as well. Good luck on the swap!

He didn't disclose the final price, so why would you say it's reasonable? Does look good though, very nice.

Misread it, obviously. I remember when I wrote that it was 'around $500.00' or something. I dunno, it was 5 in the morning, I was on a night shift.

*edit* er, or not.. look at that time stamp. I have no excuse!
