Got a set of AstroBlaster boards, I -think- they're complete... giant box, 5 boards, 8 molex connectors, fan...

Anywho, looking to test them to see if they work... interested mainly in just testing video and sound, but wouldn't mind going ahead and building the whole rig.

I checked CrazyKong.com for the pinouts, but either I'm on crack or the file there is missing a lot of connectors and I have no idea what "edge connector" it's talking about...

Anyone have any tips on testing this thing? Just interested in video and sound at first, if that works, then I'd be up for finishing the adatper.

Thanks, Mark.

That's exactly (what appears at a glance to be...) what I see here.

Seems like I have a lot of extra wires going to P1, but I guess they just made these things to work with other games and most of the wires are unused?

Thank you, I'll work on getting this thing tested... I was playing it a little in MAME out of curiosity... it completely stomped my ass, so now I really want to play it properly.

Sorry for digging up an old thread - did you ever succeed in building this adapter?

I have not gotten around to it yet. I still have the boards sitting here but decided to knock out a few more projects that are more likely to be "worth it". I have my doubts that the boards actually work... so it's pretty low on the totem pole as far as things I have to get done. I will build it eventually though, if only to test audio and video.

I guess the tricky bit is sourcing a Power Supply with a -12v rail.

You can use 2 power supplies.....just connect the 12v line of the 2nd supply to ground of the first supply.....that way ground of the second supply will be -12v.

+5v(supply1)

+12v(supply1)

0v(GND supply 1) connect this to +12v of the second supply

0v of the second supply then becomes -12v

:)

I had success building an adapter from a computer PS for the power and just running the lines for the Video Out. Sound is more difficult as the original power supply for AstroBlaster has an audio amp, so the sound comes off the sound card, amps through the power supply, and then gets routed to the speakers.
