Hi,
I Picked up an Original Asteroids Standup.
Inside, The CRT Chassis has no label. see "Pic. 1"
also, makes a high pitch wine sound when turned on, spot-killer led ON as well.
& there appears to be a wet substance around the cup/tension wire?. see "Pic. 2"

My thought was, swap it out with this electrohome vector "same size" had lying on the shelf, "see Pic. 3"
{Months ago, was told, it worked.}

But, in reality, they use totally different connector hook-ups.

My Question,,, Is it do-able to change hook-up from the single 12 pin molex,,, to the Electrohome two connector needed ,"Pic. 3"
Please ,,what type of monitor is this one board unit that wines called ?"Pic. 1"
which is the original?
Thanks.

The first monitor is a Wells Gardner 19v2000. The second is an Electrohome G05-801.

They have different connector schemes, but you can build a wiring adapter to use the v2000 in your Asteroids.

Most Asteroids came with 801's from the factory, and the cab harnesses were originally made for 801's. However Atari also shipped some with G05-802's, which are the Electrohome version of the 19v2000. The 802 and v2000 have the same 12-pin 4x3 connector, and are swappable. The 801 is swappable as well, you just need to build the wiring adapter (which Atari included with the cabs it shipped with 802's, but they are easy to make yourself.)

If your cab had the v2000 in it already, it may already have the wiring adapter. Either that, or someone already changed the cab harness wiring/plug for a v2000/802 monitor. Here's the diagram for the adapter to convert a stock 801-wired cab harness to an 802/v2000 monitor. Or you need the other one, shown in Mopar's post above, depending on what the cab harness is.

Also, the stuff around the anode is old dielectric grease. You can clean it off with some paper towels and Goof Off. It does not need to be replaced.

If you want either set of monitor boards repaired, I refurb all of these. PM for details.

What is the male 7 pin connector type for the X,Y, and Z plus respective ground inputs. I have a factory one with the Atari tag on it but want to make one. Have the 12 and 6 molex connectors and pins but not sure what to get for this connection.

The one in the lower left of the pic I posted?

It's a header, just flipped upside down (with the wires soldered to the part that normally gets soldered to the board). I don't have the part number offhand at the moment (I'm on mobile, someone else will post it), but APAR or Digikey has them.

It's the same header used on vector deflection boards.
