Asteroids Restoration

Get a logic probe and put it on the enable line for that sound. Make sure it's actually being triggered when it's supposed to be. (You should see the logic level change when the UFO appears).

If the enable is working, then the issue is somewhere in the sound circuit, and if you have replaced all of the parts (including Q6), check for cracked or broken traces, cracked resistors, and make sure all of the components are correct values per the schematics (as if someone else worked on it before you, people love to install incorrect parts sometimes). Also check R77, which is where the saucer sound connects to the output amplifier.

If it isn't being enabled, it could be the LS259 latch at M10/M11, or the LS06 at N9/N10.

Icing on da cake

It's been a good wait and well worth it, I received the reproduction screened control panel done by Takeman yesterday, and moved the controls over to it and installed into the game today.

Getting the bend out on the corner (no thanks to UPS) was simple enough.

I removed the sticker for the cable tie-downs using my thumb, cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and hot glued to the new panel.

A nice easy upgrade...for once!

A silk'd panel is so much better than an overlay. Nice upgrade. I hope you keep that game FOREVER. :)

I do too, I started out grabbing the games that were high priority so yeah Asteroids, Battlezone, etc. are all life long keepers, especially AD & SC which was mine back in the late 80's. :)

Star Wars and Tempest are next but ugh, those games have sky rocketed in price.
