I've been working on my Asteroids recently and bought an Arcadeshop repro bezel.

When I put the bezel in, there is a decent gap between bezel and tube at the top. Like the monitor or shelf needs to be tilted forward.

Afaik the stock monitor was a G05. I have a V2000. Has anyone else with this setup used one of these bezels? Is the gap normal? I know it's going to annoy the shit out of me while playing.

I take it then that nobody else has had fit issues with the repro and v2000.

Was really hoping not to have to alter the cab as it's really nice, but I guess I'll have to shim er up. :/

I've usually seen the v2000 in it. You've got the front of the cabinet/the blocking that the front/flaps of the bezel fit against and the curved back edge against the CRT. I don't see how this could go wrong. Wonder what it is...

The issue likely is with the repro bezel and not with the V2000. Both the G05 and 19V2000 use the same tube ... so same shape/curvature.

Are you sure you assembled the bezel correctly? :D

I actually had it a little more tightly assembled, but it wasn't quite filling out horizontally. But, no, either way the gap is too big, it's like 1/2" from the top edge of the tube (so more like 3/4" from the viewable area). Almost like the shelf is low and at the wrong angle. But there is no evidence that it was ever in any position but where it is now.

I'd suspect the bezel, but can't find any complaints from others about it. And the plexiglass fits right (which is why I suspected the monitor over the shelf).

Such a simple thing holding me up, it's really weird and frustrating. Never had an issue with a bezel not fitting before. I know Arcadeshop art is always a hit/miss deal, but this is ridiculous.

Compare?

Know any collector close to where you live and you can compare the cardboard dimensions/shape?

Thanks, I'll compare when I get home. But, yeah, mine doesn't seem to fit anything close to that nice.

I'll try cutting the glue and reclamping it tighter in the corners. And take some measurements when I have it out again. Admittedly yours seems to be assembled the way I had it before, but even then it was way off.

I guess I could try ArcadeClassix, I'm pretty sure the bw vector I sold him went into an Asteroids.

And if it still don't fit, fuck it, gon play me some Asteroids multi and worry about it later. :p

Those are a couple of random pics I found off of the web. Comparing to mine (original, not repro cardboard bezel), they look similar. Top/Bottom fits nice ... perhaps alittle too much CRT black edge showing on the right side.

FWIW, my poor memory seems to recall some talk in the old RGVAC days that the repro was not perfect. Not sure if the criticism was for color or fit or other issue(s).

Friggin Harvey destroyed my leftovers pile, so the original is out for me. :/

And knowing Arcadeshop, yeah, it's probably not accurate art.
