This board was working properly then I installed the Asteroids Multi game kit and after leaving it on for a few days the board started suffering a PCB related problem. I removed the kit and the problem became evident that it was intact a PCB related problem. I was going to use my HP5004A signature analyzer to asses the problem but found I had problems with the 5004A that I must asses first. Im not even sure that this a problem that could be located with a signature analyzer or if it is in the avg section of the board. I am pretty sure that it is not the avg section as most of those chips are socked and testable. maybe a counter or something. Any comments are appreciated.

If it plays without crashing or resetting then the program side is probably fine, and your troubles are on the vector side which as you say is beyond the reach of signature analysis. Run self-test anyway (might catch a bad vector RAM). Seeing how the crosshatch pattern is affected will also help to diagnose the trouble.

It also seems your image is rotated 90°...?

A cocktail should never be 90 degrees
It should be 0 degrees or 180 degrees. (Flipped)
Have you tested the monitor to make sure it's working correctly

forget about the monitor the cabinet works great, the other cabinet works great. The monitor is fine. The Picture you are looking at is rotated one way or the other.

Thats the image.

so I started probing around the counters and vector state IC's and I found a few that were being held high. tracked it back to a 7497 that was hot and proved to be bad. board fixed.
