Was at an event last night at Strong Museum of play, and one of the items tehy had on display was an Asteroids Prototype machine with hands draw artwork. Thought it was pretty neat. Also included some of the other items they had.

That place is the bomb! When I was there, they had a playable Computer Space. I use the term "playable" loosely as it's a pretty frustrating game. The pinball room is sweet also. Worth the trip for sure.

Firetruck was at a couple of places in Wildwood, NJ for the longest time. Frustrating game.

Holy crap, I just noticed that this predates Monte Carlo. Similar gameplay with the scrolling track!

I want one of those fire truck games

I used to have one a lonnnng time ago. I worked for a place called
Fun 'n Games in NJ. They sold it to me for $50 (probably around '83-84).

I worked at the Brunswick Square Mall in East Brunswick, NJ.

They were all in the old DeBartolo malls which included Seaview Square and
Ocean County Mall. One of the old district managers told me they used the place
as a tax write off or something.

Seaview Square Mall? Though it might have still been Aladdins at that point.

"Smokey Joe" is the single player version of the game. I've never seen a Smokey Joe however the Family Fun Center in Montclair near where I grew up had a Fire Truck for years...

Hand-drawn artwork... where? The bezel looks different (the left side of it, but the right side looks the same). The Bezel doesn't have the instructions on the bottom. The marquee and cp artwork looks like the final version as well, but the cabinet sides look like there's no artwork on them.

Any idea how long the event is going on? I live about an hour away and haven't been there in a year.

There is also one in Grinkers Grand Palace in Eagle, Idaho. I know, because I stood in it to watch a guy kill screen a Dig Dug in October.

thats not how you do that...

you need to run around the whole place telling everyone "theres a dig dug kill screen coming up" over and over.

That shit will make you famous.. you may even get your own t-shirt.

These should be there as part of the current exhibit. The event I was at was "The Happiest Hour", which is basically Kids Museum + Adults Only + BBQ dinner vendors + Adult Beverages.

The Harley Exhibit, which these are outside of it through May 7th. They have their standard Arcade room (~30-40 games + consoles and others), and Pinball Alley (15-20 pinballs) there all the time.

In person you can see it a lot better. The second picture is the sign in front of it with the description.
