This asteroids game is a PITA.

My upright has neck glow but no picture.

Plays blind, fires lazer, thruster, etc.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Measure the output from the board. There are test points I believe for the
X and Y output. The out put should show it going up and down voltage Wise (dc + 5 to -5 volts). That will give you an idea if the board is outputting video. If you have an osciliscope.. you can actually see the game image in
XY mode.

Do you have a red light lit on the deflection board? (circuit board on the right
side of the monitor)

Is there a white dot in the middle of the screen?

Has the monitor been rebuilt, 30 year old XY monitors usually need a tune up by now.

no dot in the middle of the screen

no red light lit

Is there a test mode you can flip to on that game? And yes look to see if there's a red LED lit up on the deflection board (basically the monitor chassis for this game).

I also suggest checking the contrast/brightness. thats how I got my asteroids..cheap at auction. ;)

We'll let you slide this time :D

Yeah- there was no foul play involved- witness.

As a matter of fact, it would have gone even cheaper if it hadn't been in the very first row. This is the infamous Sumter SC auction where old Steve23 drove away with a tractor-trailer full of games for $5

:)

I figured out what was wrong

I had a blown 1 amp slo blo on the deflection board.

it didnt look bad but it tested bad
