Hi All..

Cap kit installed on the monitor and PCB, the game would not boot up at first...was a loose connection on the PS.

The game game up nicely after that...but all I could see was the ship and the fired laser, nothing else....I cranked up the brightness and oh, what a beautiful picture.

However.....there is an annoying hum....

I replaced the big blue, but the hum is still there.

I'll have to order a LM324N for p11 I guess. No mad rush...the game plays fine.

Any other suggestions??

Dave

1 - unplug the coin door and see if it goes away. If so, check coin door lights and coin lockout coils.

2 - unplug marquee light and see if it goes away. If so, replace the ballast...

Also, try lightly jiggling the PCB edge connector. You may have a bad connection there (I had that causing a humm on my Asteroids).

Wiggled pcb connectoer....no change.

disconnected CP...no change.

disconnected marquee lighting power....no change.

:(

Do you mean coin door? I didn't mention control panel.

And I have seen some board issues cause hum. One pcb I had hummed while another did not in the same cab...

I doubt its a bad LM324. Has the big blue been replaced? AR board been recapped? I have also seen bad TDA2002 that work but have static, pop and/or hum. I also agree with checking the edge connector, especially the ground traces.
