First off I'm not a pro at this stuff and don't play one on tv but I can follow direction pretty well and have some skills. Trying to pick up as much correct terminology and such as I go so bare with me as I may not identify something correctly. I have 2 Asteroids, 1 complete 1 missing boards. Trying to get the complete one to work. With everything plugged in and powered up I get main pcb led lit, deflector (where monitor connects) red led lit, no sounds from ar. I realize I have a number of issues but want backtrack to see if I can solve for one problem before moving on to the next. So I unplugged the connector for the monitor, still had the pcb led lit, unplugged the ar connections one at a time when I did that the pcb led went off. So I realized that the J8 and other large connector couldn't both be plugged in at the same time or I get the pcb led lit. Because my other cab is missing the boards I thought I would pick up a tested/repaired ar and try swapping it out and if it wasn't the root of this problem I could put it in the incomplete cab and start to build it out. Well the new ar did the same thing as my original so I suspect I have 2 good ar now. I have searched this site for simple solutions or procedures to help with getting to a good starting place that I can understand but most are or seem to technical for me at my skill level. Is the pcb led my indicator of a problem? If it's unlit does that mean all good? I'm not opposed to getting a repaired main pcb as I can always use it in that other cab but don't know if this is the logical thing to do? Thanks for the read sorry for the length but I have to start somewhere, Dave

RED LED on logic PCB = +5V present = good
RED LED on monitor deflection board = spot killer "on" = no XY signal from logic board = bad

You have a logic board problem (likely).

Measure some voltages. Got a voltmeter?

If you give up, I think andrewb is the new "fix it" guy here for Atari vectors. Send the logic PCB to him for repair.

Thanks for the info, so when the logic board is unplugged from the deflector and AR and the led is not lit, that doesn't mean that the logic board is ok, there can and probably are issue with it? Thanks again!
