SO...

...has there been ANY progress on this? Sorry... i love the work Scott has done in the past but this is getting a little... uh... well... you know.

6 years ago I bought an Asteroids to multi it...

2 years later I gave up and sold it.

2 years after that I got an Asteroids Deluxe... and a post about progress being made was posted. I got excited. I bought an Asteroids PCB for the sole purpose of multiing that bad boy and putting it in my Asteroids Deluxe.

Here we are now. I have the AD... I have the Asteroids PCB. But the Multi is STILL not available. I've been on a "list" for years... but nothing.

I am a little frustrated. Yes. I am about to sell the damn Asteroids PCB since it's just sitting on the shelf doing nothing anyway.

I held back on buying the LL controller interface because, well, I didn't want to throw more money at something that just doesn't seem like will ever happen.

Scott... just release the darned beta already! I'd rather have a 95% stable version of the thing than nothing at all. PLEASE.

(rant over... and for those who may complain about my complaint... I don't care.)

Ditto.... I've been drooling over the possibility of this for a while now as well...

I think an original Polybius will show up first. :D

I am looking forward to this and all of his other products are top notch so I can wait........

Ugh... I saw a NEW thread on this instead of just a bump of the other, so I got excited... then saw it was just another "where is it" thread. :p We just need to take someone's beta, send it to China, and it'll be available in a couple weeks for 23.54$ USD. ;)

Yeah. This is getting a bit daft now. I've got an Asteroids DLX running an Asteroids PCB. This is not ideal. If it weren't for the long awaited multi kit I'd go out and buy a DLX PCB. But I keep holding off, on the off chance that the multi will finally be released ...

Dunno. I'm not bitching about the lack of progress, but some clue about whether this might see the light of day would be helpful. This year? Next year? Year after?

I've given up also, starting to think the cinematronics multi will never happen either.
Glad I'm not the only one. From my perspective Asteroids didn't hold up from BITD until now and Lunar Lander was never a favorite, so I'm fine with just an Asteroids Deluxe in the lineup. And even that does not get a ton of play.

Yeah, you guys aren't alone.

I gave up and just got all three cabinets. The heck with it, I don't need it now. They look kool all together anyways.

I understand how anxious folks are about this project. I can only tell you that Scott wants to work out the remaining bugs before moving out of beta testing. Unfortunately (for us) his new job and family are occupying 100% of his time currently. Scott fully intends to release this project (I've personally sent him 250+ POKEY for the Asteroids version)

I would happily pay COLD HARD CASH for the current version. He can release updates and we can burn them as necessary. I am 100% confident NO ONE purchasing the kit would complain. At all.

He's also made at least one hardware revision (since 2004), so it's not always just a rom update. As mentioned above "real life syndrome" has taken precedence lately with Scott - and rightly so, he's got some great kids and deserves to "be there" with them, and I know his employment situation's changed at least once too.

I'm ready for whatever version is ready. With Asteroids upright with Multi control panel, New Thruster, and interface for thruster in hand. I can update the roms too.

I think this has more to do with him being a perfectionist and less to do with "his kids" ... no offense Mr. France. He could package up what he has now... like I said... and ship it.. and no one would complain. At all.

Why "his kids" are brought up every time someone mentions this kit is beyond me. I've played the version that was released prior to 2006 at CAX and I'd venture to guess that every last one of us waiting would drool to have THAT kit.

What sort of has me tweaked (but not really) is that I'd given up on this kit long ago.. but Scott himself re-ignited the hope about a year and a half back ... many of us (myself included) caught that glimer of hope and jumped on it... made purchasing decisions, etc... based on that post.

Just sayin'. I am not disparaging Mr. Brasington at all. Not one bit. And I certainly am not bringing his children or his parenting in to this discussion. I am simply discussing the huge freakin' elephant in the room.

Friz, from what I understand is that the pokeys are not readily available.

I am one of the beta testers of the latest revision. IIRC, he was last trying to get the chips or find an alternate layout for the game.

In addition, he is considering the option of "supply your own".

Scott will have to chime in though...

Well... you making purchasing decisions based on hope from him shouldn't be his or anyone else's problem but yours.
