Asteroids Multigame - Wondering Again!

When I played it at CAX I didn't like it (the controls). That said, I only played 2 or 3 times... I'm sure i'd get used to it.

I think you would definitely get used to it.

I think that if I tried a standard Lunar Lander now I would hate the controls. ;)

With or without the Lunar Lander I would love to have that multi kit for my Asteroids Deluxe because I really enjoy both games. I bought the ESB add-on kit from Mark Spaeth which is top knotch, but I never really play ESB.

I agree with others. Would gladly pre-pay for something like this. And if he is concentrating on his family life, there is nothing wrong with that.

So, I wouldn't think that there would be a problem in passing this project on to someone else that could finish the job.

Sorry guys...I did ping Scott as I said I would a couple of weeks back, but I did not receive a response.

Hopefully he'll resurface someday, but for now, he appears to still be "off the grid" (to borrow a phrase from Tron) :D .

I hope this kit never happens. The last thing I want to see is fucking ugly ass multigame artwork on Atari cabs and hacked up control panels. The Williams games are bad enough. Man up and buy all 3 games. You are collectors aren't you ? So collect !

You can play all three games with the normal asteroids or asteroids deluxe control panel. I wouldn't change the CP, the artwork, or anything. Just plug it in and play all three. Not everyone is waiting to rape a classic that wants this kit.

If I didn't personally want this kit, I would agree. :)

The great thing about this kit is you can leave the CP and all the art alone. You don't have to add controls and make up some fugly art to try and blend it in. One 1/4 inch hole is all you would need to put a dial pot in and you would have analog control for LL. Put that in the blue square under HyperSpace or the white square on the upper right of the CP, and it would look fine, that CP has acres of room. I even have a Blasteroids spinner knob with the Atari Logo on it ready to use for this very purpose!

You can play it without changing the control panel but too many people can't leave well enough alone. I hope to God i never have to see Multi-Atari artwork.

You just said the panel would not have to be altered then come back with " One 1/4 inch hole is all you would need to put a dial pot " so I guess the panel does have to get cut. Screw that. I'm dispatching the black helicopters now. This kit and everyone that wants it better hide. No more fucking butchered games for multi garbage. If you wanna play all 3, buy all 3. I did and you can too.

Uh... Asteroids and Asteroids Deluxe use the same number of buttons...

...and the version of Lunar Lander included uses those same buttons as well.

No hacking necessary. I'd keep my Asteroids looking 100% stock as I am sure 99.9% of the folks out there would.

(the "dial pot" is unnecessary as the buttons work to increase and decrease thrust...one button increase... the other button decreases).

The analog control is optional. I would us th kit without that option. No hacking at all. This one is more like a multipede or space invaders multi. I can imagine custom art coming out though.

I don't think you have to worry Dave... it's looking like this kit will never see the light of day anyway.

This is what an Asteroids multigame should look like :

Umm, yah.....got the point - let it go already.
Nice machines BTW. Just for the record - I mostly just want full high score save on my Deluxe. The others would be a bonus. Well, LL would be - I really dont like the original asteroids as much as Asteroids Deluxe.

Maybe throw the Asteroids/Lunar multi into a PPII cab and use the gas pedal as thrust? Cab shape is the same, isn't it?

There are plenty of PPII crippled cabs out there, the damn things don't want to run...
