Can someone give me an idea where to look to see why my asteroids monitor takes a long time to turn on?? It takes about 6 mins to come on and then it works good
Thanks

during this period, does the image get gradually brighter and brighter? Or does it suddenly pop into existence after 6 minutes?

If it's gradual, my guess is that it takes a while for the filament to heat up (or for the cathode to be heated up by the filament).

Could be wrong though, I'm no expert.

Literally 95% or more of the G05 and v2000 deflection boards I repair have cracked solder joints on the header pins, and it's definitely the first place to start. Caps would be next.

Other than that, black and white vector monitors are some of the most reliable and well designed out there. Particularly the early rev G05's, before they started cost cutting, and cheapened the boards up a bit. I'm always surprised at how many of the components in the monitor I've rebuilt are still original (frame transistors, etc), even when the screens are heavily burned, implying they saw a lot of use.

Update

I notice everything is bunched up on the right side. Some type of screen collapse.
Hope this narrows it down.
