I have a chance to pick up a non working AD. I'm told it powers up with a blank monitor and beeps. What do you think the fix could be as I'm new to the group. Thanks in advance for your help.

Worth what? Free? $50? $500? Sounds like it is playing blind. Awesome game, and I'd pick it up if it was reasonable. Mine was $250. It worked but needed the V2000 monitor rebuilt. It is now one of my favorites:

They want $150 for it.

Most definitely, if the cabinet is not thrashed to hell. Make sure it's playing blind and that all the artwork is there. Also, check which way the monitor bezel slants. If it is the original config, you can have issues with glare on the screen. The bezel on mine is the anti-glare/ glare reduction bezel kit.

If it beeps, it's probably just in test mode. The monitor is easy to fix. $150 is a good price if it's in nice shape, and I hear most of them are. Asteroids Deluxe is a beautiful game when it's working. Sometimes I turn mine on just to look at it.

Good chance the problem is not monitor. If it is giving beeps, it sounds like it needs board work.

Great looking cabinet and blacklight effects. I have people tell me it's my coolest game.

MrBill08 is awesome with AS/AD board repairs. He puts boards up for sale from time to time for about $100 or so.

I know the machine you are talking about and I've looked at it before. It's been for sale for a few months.

The cab is in okay shape, a little rough around the bottom.

Monitor dead, but board is beeping constantly.

Needs new buttons, plexi is scratched, CPO needs to be replaced. Cardboard stuff inside the cab is faded and will need to be replaced.

$150 - about right.

They won't take $100. That's why it's been sitting for months.

It's $150, no less.

Good to know. With that laundry list of issues, I'd say pass. You should be able to get one fully working in decent shape for ~$300, give or take.

I agree with Sav..... again. For that kind of dough the cabinet needs to be in good shape. I got mine for $125 in pretty nice condition but the marquee was cracked, the pcb did not work, and the monitor needed some minor work. I ended up buying a marquee for $25 from a klover and got a couple broken pcbs off ebay and got one out of the three working again with parts from the others. So probably got around $250-$300 into it. Not all that into the game but the cabinet and display is pretty cool.

Sounds like a pile - don't touch it for $150. $50-$75 _maybe_ if you want a project to deal with. Personally, I like to play my games.
