Hey everyone. got a weird issue, and based on the symptoms I'm not even sure what would cause this (as all the things that I know that would cause this issue would cause an issue that's specifically not happening.

basically my asteroids deluxe cabaret, turn it on everything is great.
wait a while. the text and the rocks get really dim. (ok that's easy right?) but here's the kicker. the main ship does NOT get dim. only the text and the asteroids.

my logic says that anything that would cause the dimness should also affect the ship? (that said I haven't looked at an AD in a long time and usually only the CPU/memory sections not the video sections)

if you've seen this issue before and have an idea, please let me know. I had a small get together this weekend and now a bunch of my machines are down for issues ;(

also anyone have a good source for the POTs on the AD board set that fit correctly in the holes? I think I want to replace those anyway on my two AD boards.

Brian,

The ship and bullets are drawn at a different intensity than the rocks and text (although in a two player game I think the active layer score is brighter). Put it into self-test and check the triangle of lines in the middle of the crosshatch and I'll bet instead of a progression from dim to bright you have only one or the other.

I think it's a monitor problem but if you've narrowed it down to the PCB then I'd check Q7, Q8 and Q9 in the Z output section, or the SCALE0-SCALE3 lines leaving VGEN mem data latch K7.

ok thanks for the reply. ill put them in test mode and also double check with another board this weekend hopefully.

confirmed, monitor issue! thanks!
