I am trying to add Asteroids Deluxe to my game room and I found 2 nice examples. I am trying to sell a couple games right now and can't get anywhere close to VAG price book value. Market seems soft. But when I'm trying to buy a specific title, it seems there are no deals to be had. How high would you go on either title?

1. Full size upright. Nice cabinet, plays well, original CPO is rough and front left corner has some paint worn away. Seller is asking $1300 and they stated they are firm.

2. Cabaret. Cabinet is very nice. Plays well. CPO and buttons very rough, marquee light not working. Has lock bar holes that were filled with carriage bolts. Seller didn't name a price. I threw out $800 and they stopped replying, no counter offer. I didn't think it was unreasonable?

That the UR in St Cloud? Been sorta eyeing it too but not actually serious about buying. I wouldn't pay more than $1k and have $900 in mind.

$800 for that cabaret is certainly not unreasonable. IMO, the cabaret and UR are worth the same in the same condition. The cabaret is easier to handle and fit into your arcade space but you lose out on the blacklight effects that make the UR cool.

Yes, St. Cloud one.

After the "I'll pay any price" of the last 2 years everyone's expectations are high. Sometimes you just need to wait. How long have those unit's been sitting? Have you looked around to see what other units have actually sold for?

The visuals on the are obviously going to be better, but man, I love my little cabaret. Easy restore too. CPO from Joe Szabo, a marquee from PA, and you've got a killer looking game. Get the HSS multi-kit as well, but be aware that sounds aren't correct for Asteroids if you get the HSS kit for the AD board. If you put an Asteroids board in your AD with the Asteroids HSS kit, the sounds will be correct for Asteroids. There's a reason for this. @andrewb what was the reason again?

Anyway, here's a photo of mine right after I finished restoring it:

Note that the marquee in the photo was the original with the washed out black color. The replacement by PA, has deep black color. Looks amazing…like always with Darin's products.

Thanks,
Jason

UR's been listed for over 2 months. Always worth sending something along the lines of "hey, I'd be in for $XXX but go ahead and wait it out to see if you can get more"

Should've bought mine for $500! 🤣

Seriously it only needed some minor repairs probably $20 in parts and a couple of hours labor. And with new side art you would have had a 9/10 game.

Things are hard to find right now.
(And even harder to sell. )

I personally have never seen an upright Asteroids Deluxe sell for more than 800 bucks -and that was high to me. Asteroids Deluxe uprights have always been the game that have never really seemed to increase in price since I've joined the hobby. No idea why, they just haven't. Now that being said, people can ask whenever they want, and someone might be desperate enough to pay it, but that doesn't mean that they sell regularly for that price. I paid 250 for mine and it's still working great 15 years later. And no, I don't think $800 for a AD Cabaret cab in that condition is too little, in my mind it's too much. That's a $600 cabinet tops.

Upright 313lb - monitor and misc ... still 250lbs or so, perhaps.
The cabaret at 193lbs does not really need anything removed to move - from a weiight perspective. Maybe from a "safety"/"no damage" risk you could remove the glass and monitor and PCB. YMMV

Sold an UR deluxe not long ago. Rebuilt monitor, regulator board and big blue $900 went relatively quick. I would say that cab is slightly better condition, but hows the inside look?

I disagree, there's well over $600 worth of parts in an upright. I think getting a nice one in the 800 to 900 range would be pretty good. It's kind of like Tempest, the parts are unfortunately worth more than the whole machine. Maybe that's changed a bit for Tempest and AD needs to catch up.

Missed my chance at a local cabaret recently because of no funds . I think he was asking 8 or 9 but think it sold for less

UR shouldn't be more than 800. The cabaret for the condition should be around 800. In good condition the cabaret can reach as high as 1300-1500
