I recently sold an Asteroids Deluxe with a good stable image . The guy now says the image shrinks to 1/8th its original size . It is a Wells garner monitor , prior to the sale I installed cap kit with transistors . I am going out to look at it this weekend . Any ideas ?
Thank you much .

No i sure didn't . I do believe i have one rolling around here somewhere . Thank you for the tip . I must apologize for posting this in here instead of the monitor section . This was my first post from my phone , so i was bound to make a mistake somewhere .

Shrinking?

I'm not sure about shrinkage (hee hee) but what's known as "blooming" where the screen grows large and small over and over is caused by the HV Diode. Arcadeshop sells it for $12. I am sure Bob Roberts would have it too.

I replaced the HV diode as well , Prior to the cap kit with transistors and the HV diode the image would bloom . I haven't heard from him in a month since he bought it so i would assume it has been fine . Maybe the diode blew again.......sigh ..Now it just shrinks and stays small .

i don't have any experience with vectors, but couldn't this be caused by the pcb no having the full +/- voltage needed for the vector section?

Check the HV diode, and reseat it.

Haha , that is my problem as well , i am not to familiar with vectors . That does sound like a possibility though . He didn't haggle my price at all so there is room for me to throw a few bucks at it and maintain my good reputation . I did find a big blue and will be installing that for sure .
