Have an Asteroids Deluxe Cabaret that after about a minute of gameplay the screen goes blank and there two "high" tones followed by a "low" tone that continously repeat over and over. As per the manual this means there is a possible M3 RAM failure. I have not dealt with this yet, what should be my next step? I would like to repair it myself!

see if m3 is socketed on the board is so reseat it and try the game . if it is soldered in buy a new ram and reaplace it. you should buy a few ram just in case another is bad .

A quick and dirty test that works on many boards is to "piggy back" one or more new rams over the suspect ram to verify if it corrects the problem before you replace it.

Solder in a socket, if it does not already have one for that position. It will make it a lot easier if you ever have to replace that chip again.

Stinky and Sticky PCB

Here is a funny one. This AD PCB was in a machine that had mildew in side of the cabinet and there is a sticky film all over the board and it smells REALLY bad! Anyone have a suggestion on a spray cleaner for this board that will not damage the chips, caps, and other components to get this 'Smelly Film' off?
