Ok, I'll admit I'm a newbie when it comes time to do electrical repairs. I just did a trade today for an Asteroids Deluxe. The guy I got it from said the cord came apart when he moved it, the person he got it from did a sloppy electrical tape job on the wires that were pulled out of the connector before he got it. He said it was playing blind earlier today, but when he moved the machine the cord came apart.

So I just got done putting it in the garage and opened up to take a look. Now I am confused because of the color change in wires. The cord coming in from the wall has a black, green and white wire - I'm used to seeing this. But when I removed the power brick to see the wire arrangement I noticed they are different - there is a brown, yellow/white and blue wire. See attached photo:

I tried to look at the schematic, but being a newbie I don't quite understand. If I read it correctly it shows BN which is AC, GN/Y which is Ground and BU which is Neutral.

So I need to clarify the following:

Which colors would be the BN (AC)?
Which colors are the GN/Y (Ground)?
Which colors are the BU (Neutral)?

After a quick search here on KLOV, all I found was a response from Dokert:

Top
1. Hot
2. Ground
3. Neutral
Bottom

Like I said, I'm a newbie so it wasn't enough info for me to give it a shot without asking for more detail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.....

BTW, the guy I traded for this said the prior owner said it was fully functioning, then all the sudden the monitor went out. I've got my fingers crossed hoping that won't be too difficult or expensive to repair...

Put the green wire in the middle.
Connect the black wire to the brown.
Connect the white wire to the blue.

To clarify some of the abbreviations:
AC=hot
BU=blue
BN=brown
GN/Y=green with a yellow stripe; yours doesn't appear to conform to that... in any case, the wire in the middle is the earth ground.

Thanks for the help - I'm gonna go try and hook it up right now....

It took me a while to get the pins out of the connector, but I got them out and replaced with new 0.093" pins. It powered right up!

Unfortunately, nothing on the monitor:(

The game plays blind, but I don't even see a glow on the tube neck.

I think I'll try to start a new thread about the monitor tomorrow if I can't easily find some trouble shooting info...

Thanks for your help!

Check for +5 volts at the motherboard. Check to see if the spot killer is lit up ( red led light on the deflection board), it is a little hard to see on an AD when the monitor is in the game, the red led is on the square board in the monitor chassis, not in the cage.

Check all fuses in the bottom of the game. Make sure they are good, in tight, and not corroded.

Start with those things.
