Asteroids Deluxe PCB - Bulletproofed w warranty $175 shipped

Hi all,

I have two Asteroids Deluxe boards for sale. Both boards have been single-ROM-modded, meaning I have replaced the four 2716 program ROMs with a single 2764, which increases reliability, and lowers power consumption. The mod is reversible, if you wish to go back to separate ROMs for some reason in the future.

The board are currently running the v2 ROM code, which are known as the 'easier' version. I can change these to the harder v1 ROMs upon request.

Boards have been fully gone over, with any marginal parts replaced. All sockets have been replaced for ROMs, CPU, pokey, and score save EAROM, using new silver dual-wipe sockets. Also, new, sealed cermet X and Y size adjustment pots have been installed in the video section, replacing the original stock pots which are prone to breaking off.

Boards have been washed, dried, and tested in my personal machine. I will also warranty these boards for 3 months. All I ask is you pay to ship it back to me, and I will repair and return ship for free.

$175 each, shipped. Two available.

(Sorry no pics at the moment, but I'll try to get some up soon.)

Thanks,
Andy

I don't know that either is considered 'standard', really. I'd say 90% of the boards I've seen have had v2 on them. I personally think v1 is way more fun, but I play a lot, and like getting my ass kicked. ;) Some folks prefer v2, and think v1 is too hard, which I can totally understand.

Actually, I just modified one of these boards to have both versions. I plan on posting a separate thread with the mod, but it's pretty simple, and is just a variation on the single ROM mod, but uses a 27128 instead of a 2764, and has both the v1 and v2 sets of code, and a toggle switch added to the board that lets you select between the two. The mod also replaces one of the 2716 vector ROMs with a 2732, and the one toggle switch controls this ROM as well. The mod is pretty straightforward, as the 2nd vector ROM is the same between both versions, so you only have to switch the 1st vector ROM.

I'll sell the dual-version board for the same price, $175 shipped.
