Just picked up my first vector game, Asteroids Deluxe. The picture comes up fine when I power on, but after leaving it on for an hour, the game plays blind. So is this a power supply issue or monitor problem? The picture comes back after be off for a while. I don't really have any history on the game from the previous owner and I know nothing about vectors. Looks all original on the inside.

If you don't have any vector knowledge I'd just send the hv board and deflection pcb for repairs to a member on the forum. I don't remember the names of the people who do but it'd be easier. I'd also grab a cap kit for the atari ar power supply and a big blue from security0001 (arcadepartsandrepair.com). Just for general power supply maintenance. Thats my 0.02$

actually I just searched it, looks like the thing should just need a cap kit on the monitor. If you know how to do that just go for it. again arcadepartsandrepair.com has it :)

This is often a sign that the two large resistors on the edge are failing. Remove them and bypass with 18ga wire.

This is a common problem with these. Here's the fix. (See Post #33 on.)

You should cap and reflow both monitor boards while you're at it. And you should remove the two power resistors R100 and R101, and bypass them with wire. But the fading issue is due to Q500 being cooked.

I can confirm that andrewb's fix for the fading by replacing Q500 just worked for me on my 19v2000. Thanks for sharing this!
