Asteroids Deluxe has no picture. Start buttons are not flashing. Game is making a loud buzzing noise and that's it. LED is lit on game board and +5 test point reads right around +5. I reseated all the chips and nothing changed. Caps on board look original. I replaced big blue and cleaned the edge connector. I recapped the AR board a few years ago and the game was hardly ever played since then. Just before the game died the vectors on the screen were getting a fuzzy once in a while and the game always had a kind of nasty hum to it.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

how about a shot in the dark of unplugging edge connector and looking for loose pins. also, unplug monitor cable and reinsert it. i know it's dumb, but this just happened to me...might try it.

There was an old thread about the audio amp being a source of loud humming in this game, but I am not sure that the failure of the amp would render the game board dead.

I think I will also try re-seating the AR connections tonight, as was mentioned in the above thread.

I guess it could be a lot of things.

It was the game board. I got another working board and I am back up and running. I guess someday I will have someone take a look at it so I have a working spare.
