Also, from what I've noticed, the saucers almost always shoot at the killer satellite as soon as it's within range to break it apart.

Yes love the game, just got my new blue monitor overlay installed.I cant remember what the high scores were on mine when I got it, I reset them. I think they were in the low 30,000 range.
4th place is 208,000 thats a challange enough!!! 3,333 million no way!!
I think the killer satellite continues to respawn if you have more than 1 asteroid left.
52,980 here. My highest score is on GorfChampion's machine but I forgot what that one is. That one is in the 50's K too.

I score around 30,000 it's a tough game but awesome, everyone that comes into my game room is blown away by the mirror/blacklight effect.
Where did you get the new blue monitor overlay?
Broke my score, now up to 32,150, which is still pretty bad, but I'm scoring 20k+ more consistently.
If you completely destroy a rock before the first saucer comes out, the satellites appear much earlier. On the first 2-3 stages, you can rack up points hunting them down this way.
I've been stuck at 58,660 for about a year. All three of my high scores are >50k, but I haven't gotten any in that range in a long time. I switched mine over to hard, two ships (defaults on release) for a while, but never managed more than 30k on those settings. I thought it'd make me better at playing easy/3 ships, but, well, it didn't.
Reading back over this thread, there's some crazy theories. What I've noticed is that the satellite comes out whenever you have 2-3 asteroids on the screen. So on the easy ROM, demolishing one brings it out right away. It will come out on the first wave on the hard setting as well. I like to leave three large asteroids, if I can, then hunt satellites. If a UFO breaks up one of the big rocks, you get a short reprieve — the satellites quit coming out until you get back down to 2-4 rocks. Kill a couple of the small ones and hunt satellites more. They keep coming out as long as there's more than one rock on the screen, and the big rocks give you the most time to get them to respawn. You can nail a good 6 or 7 before the end of the first wave. Generally I try to shoot for 10k per wave, but I've managed 15-16k on the first wave on occasion.
