So I can score a half a million or more on regular Asteroids. But Asteroids deluxe different story. I have had this machine for a few years and play it quite a bit. got my high score tonight a little over 41,000. That is good enough for 12th place on Twin Galaxies. But the top 3 scores are unreal.

The world record is 3,333,360:eek:. WOW how the hell did someone get that??? Set in Feb of last year.

here is a link to the rest of the scores still over 2 million for 2nd and 3rd place set in the early 80's.

Just wondering what kind of scores other Klovers are putting up??

I have owned my asteroids deluxe for a few years now and haven't beaten the score that was saved on there previously. So I am still trying to beat RON that scored 56000. I am in third place with 41000. And it took me quite a while to get good enough to put that third place up there.

Rough game, but fun.

Yes love the game, just got my new blue monitor overlay installed.:) I cant remember what the high scores were on mine when I got it, I reset them. I think they were in the low 30,000 range.

4th place is 208,000 thats a challange enough!!! 3,333 million no way!!

Previous high score was around 66k. It took me awile but I was able to wipe it out with my top 3 scores barely above that. The game gets really hard around there with those dam satellites haulin after you and that damn accurate little bastard of a UFO.

Nice those scores 66k, those are good enough for 8th place. Any Secrets???
I try to get rid off all the rocks and go to the next asteroid field as fast as possible. I try to only get 1 satellites per level. Yea even the big ships are good shots!!!

I played the hell out of this game when it first came out. They put it in a grocery store a few blocks from my house. I think even back then I was in the 30k range.

We watched John "the machine" McAllister roll the odometer on my Asteroids Deluxe at my house. He was at the last Seattle show and I imagine he will be there again going for other world records this year. Cool guy, he hangs out with Dick Millikan and is local to Seattle.

Any idea how many hours of play it took to get over 3 million?

Main thing to remember is your ship accelerates and changes direction more quickly than asteroids. I play better when I am always moving and changing direction. Obviously when the sattelite pieces chase after you thrust away from them at a comparative speed that they are moving towards you with and fire away. As soon as little bastard appears immediately make destroying him a top priority. It helps to have large hands so thumb can be always resting on shield button at the ready. Try to collect extra ships and not die early on when game is still manageable, then just hold on as long as you can and try not to die too quickly when the game starts to get super hard around 60k. I would love to see how the guys who get 1m+ pull that off.

Man... I thought it was just me. My high score on our machine is ~40k and that was a fight getting there. My 9 year old son has some pretty amazing moves and can get over 20k. When I watch him I think to myself "if only I could move like that". ;) He'll be beating my high score one of these days.

52,980 here. My highest score is on GorfChampion's machine but I forgot what that one is. That one is in the 50's K too.

58,000 on Rev2. Rev2 is much easier than Rev1, at least at the start. I usually save a few small asteroids at the start and blow up a few death stars to rack up some easy points. I think the death star gets faster each time you kill one, not the wave number. In Rev1 the death star moves at about the 4th wave speed when it first appears. I am positive that I played Rev1 as a kid and with 3 ships, even with 13 year old reflexes, I think I could only manage 28,000 BITD spending real money of couse!

Agreed, Rev1 is much tougher than Rev2. Rhombus, here on the forums, has a Rev1 machine and it's a PITA. I ended up in the high 20's on his machine.

What Score can you get?

I think my high is like 20 or 22k lawl, but that is a game i would like to practice at and beat the high score on there. But i suck at playing them so I am not planning on it anytime soon. AD is such an under rated game and it really puzzles me as to why. I love the side art and 3d effect on the screen is something you can just never get tired of. The game play is fun. This game should be in everyones collection imho. Hard to believe this game doesn't fetch more $$$

I don't own the game yet, but I play it whenever I visit my friend's house. My hi-score is 69,800. His high score is 77k. I've vowed to knock that score down.

3 ships to start.

I agree. I can't understand why this game goes so cheap on ebay. Way undervalued. Don't people realize how fun this game is to play, and that it is nothing like playing a mame version on a raster.

My highest on my Asteroids Deluxe is only 43,980. The board I bought for it had the high score as 53,350 set by 'LEE', I let it stay on as a goal to shoot for.

So far, FAIL.... I play at least eight games every time I play and fill out the high score list before shutting off.

Just got my personal best tonight. Just over 21k. Got the extra guy at 20 and promptly died twice. Guess i 've got a ways to go before I get close to your guys' scores. I haven't had a chance to play it all that much since I got it though(that's my excuse anyway)...

My best is ~28k. The top 3 when I bought it were 89k, ???, and 69k. That's just sick.

Is there an easy way to tell which ROM revision you have? Mine is hard as hell - I'd hate to learn that it's really the "easy" version. :)
