I dont have a pic yet but whats going on is only half (the right side)of the game is showing up on the screen. I play it every day,I played it last night before i went to bed for a few games but when i switched it on tonight this is happening. I havent opened it up yet as its too late tonight to get into but im cracking it open tomorrow night, any tips as what to check? edge connector? re-seat roms? Im really hoping its something simple, has anyone had this problem?

Thanks

Roy

1/2 deflection points to either:
Deflection transistors x 2 blown (usually a fuse or 2 will blow also)
A connector has loose pins or dry solder joint
A wire is broken in the deflection connectors or transistor circuit

Usually it's an easy thing (as far as vectors go) to repair yourself.

All the best

AD half screen...

If you haven't done it already it's a good time to do a cap kit. That will fix the problem and keep your monitor running for years. Also re-flow all the connectors at the same time.

Ive never done a cap kit before but have researched it bit.

AD cap kit...

Have you ever worked with a soldering iron? The cap kit on the AD monitor is not that hard. It was the first one I did years ago actually. The deflection board comes right out and everything is easily reachable. The "hard" or "scary" part is grounding the tube and removing the HV cage. Read up on this please as you could get a nasty shock.

Main thing to remember is to make sure you put the caps and the transistors back in the right direction. The cap kits all come with a little map and any number of us on the forums can walk you through it.

If you are nervous about it - look for someone local who can help. There's lot's of nice KLOV'ers in TX.

Reflow the solder on the header pins on the chassis monitor PCB too.

So im home on lunch and i fired the AD up and guess what? All is back to normal? I know theres a problem but thought that was kinda weird, not bitchin' bout it though.

AD back?

That would tell me you really do need to re-flow the pins on the monitor board...
(and again do a cap kit since it will already be apart)

I have the same issue with my battlezone. Its a cold solder joint on the connector (monitor). I've been too lazy to fix it since the problem is so intermittant (plus a little fonzie 'knock' to the side of the cab gets the full screen right back up!)
