I just bought an Asteroids Deluxe and there's are a couple of issues with the monitor. First the top of the screen is cutoff. You can't see your score very well. The second is the monitor pulses. Not sure of the correct term, but it is kind of zooming in and out. Not much though, you really don't notice when your playing.

Your sizing issue could be as simple as adjusting the cardboard surround. It not uncommon for them to work free and slide around. If that's not it, you'll have to adjust the screen size. This will be done via the game motherboard. It will have a series of tiny little pots....hopefully yours are labeled (sometimes they're not). If they are labeled....X-Size and Y-Size adjust the size.

The pulsing sounds like the high voltage diode. Sometimes a good cleaning will resolve connection iissues....but if it's going bad, the only fix is replacement.

OK, checked the cardboard insert and it was ok. Found the pot, adjusted, and picture is fine, thanks a bunch Ed on that one. Checked the B+ and it is showing some fluctuation. Using a digital meter though and it's blooming back and forth pretty quick, not sure the digital picks up as well as analog does. But this does seem to be the source because every now and then the digital meter would go out of range for a second. What should I look for now? Thanks,

I bought a non working Asteroids with multiple issues. PS, X axis collapse, looked like the deflection board had seen some serious smoke. After reading how the G05-802 worked I revisted the issue with this one.

Turns out the 90 V supply from the high voltage cage to the deflection board was 66 V. Recapped both high voltage and deflection boards and the voltage checked in at 94 V. Adjusted the X and Y axis and game is working great.

Also removed old solder from all header pins and replaced with new. Thanks Hewitson and Ed for the getting me started.
