I picked up an Asteroids Deluxe cabaret last weekend and it's in good shape. It's mostly working, but I decided to address some of the problems it has. This won't be a full bore resto, but it should be night/day when it's done.

I will primarily be focused on making it run perfect and take care of the cosmetics in the spring when the temps warm up around here.

List of things to do.

1. replace old worn edge connector - done!
2. rebuild ar - done!
3. recap pcb - done!
4. replace fuse block - done!
5. replace big blue - done
6. new buttons
7. new cpo
8. repaint black areas of cab
9. clean woodgrain sides (excellent condition just needs some cleaning)
10. new plexi
11. new t-molding
12. new locks - done!
13. repaint marquee bracket

I may add to the list as I see more needs. I'm currently waiting on a Bob order to finish the first 5 things on the list. At least then I should be able to play it until Spring. - Barry

Pic of the cab as I got it, old worn out edge connector, new vs old edge connector.

Looks nice and will be nicer when you are done!

Don't forget some legs and levelers. On my Asteroids Cabaret, two of the T nuts were gone for two of the levelers. Bob sells small plates that I bought and replaced all four corners with.

Parts arrived today! I got new locks, big blue and fuseblock installed. The ar has been rebuilt with new connectors as well. I also capped the pcb. My overlay showed up from DJW90. It was packed so well I was beginning to wonder if it was in the packaging. - Barry

I redid the edge connector on mine as well. I couldn't believe how little contact area there was on the original pins.

Had a scare after all the work I did yesterday. It powered up to both start buttons lit and now picture with spotkiller on. After checking and rechecking everything I did, it all seemed fine. I pulled the pcb and reseated all the roms and it came up again - Whew! So for now it's running and once it warms up I'll get to the cosmetics. - Barry

Barry, Glad it arrived safe.. I overpack because USPS likes to beat the hell out of stuff.. :D Its going to look great on your machine.. Mine has that same overlay and its unreal nice...

Nice. I just got one last month. My sides are in great shape like yours and I plan on a full restore. Working on other games right now but once the sideart comes out it will move to the front of the line.
