Asteroids CPO advantages/disadvantages (full wrap vs regular)

Yes, I'm sure this has been covered at least a dozen times but try doing a search for Asteroids CPO lol. My question. I see two different CPO options. Full wrap vs just the standard. What are the advantages or disadvantages of having one over the other? I'm getting close in my Asteroids spruce up to starting work on the CP and want to get some advice from others that have been there, done that.

Thanks in advance.

1. silkscreened Takeman CP (not CPO)
2. end

(I have an old overlay right now; I repainted the CP and installed; looks fine to me)

I did the regular one and I'm really pleased with it. I didn't want the full wrap simply because I think the partial one looks better and I don't have to worry about any delamination on the corners. Takeman is supposed to be doing a run of the control panels with the painted CPO, so that's probably the best option.

Since I view neither as the original, they both have their flaws, in my opinion.

The non full wrap is cheaper and easier to install. People who know what an asteriods should be will think at least there was an attempt to make it look nice but we all know this control panel looks off.

The full wrap. Hey that looks like it should be until you run your hand on it. Resting your hands on a cpo doesn't feel the same as resting your hands on a cpo. Basically looks nicer feels different.

Two more options if I may..

The using blue tape to mask the good parts of your controls panel. The good. Looks good from a distance, feels fine when you play. You will always notice the small chips and any imperfection on your spray job. You will be dealing with " it looks great from X amount of feet".

Buying the reproduction control panel. Good if your are going to resell the machine for big bucks down the line. Bad if your keeping it. Don't play my machine cause if you scratch the control panel it will lower the resell value of my machine. You won't be able to sell the machine at the good guy price cause you invested a lot in the arcade machine..

These are just my opinions and they don't mean a thing cause this is your game and you will do what makes you happy...

Good luck in your spruce up.

Thanks for the feedback. This game I have zero plans of parting with. I am trying to avoid calling this a resto because of all the back and forth with regards to using repro'd parts etc. I may just hold out for the Takeman CP and call it a day.

Good info!! This is why I love this place....well most of it heehee.
