The idea of the black mist is so you can sand and see when all the low spots are gone
I used a small rubber block to keep it dead flat, and 240 grit paper.

See this pic, there is a low so I need to sand some more

Till all the black is gone

- Steps:
- Strip, hand sanding did not work, so out came the orbital sander, that was too slow. So I got out the belt sander. That worked
- Then, thoroughly cleaned with turps
- Grey Auto primer was next, some use etch primer first
- Then 3 coats of spray putty (Blue) to fill in all the scratches and low spots
- Then Sanded it with a block and got it close (120 grit, then 240), still some holes are visible
- Then 2 coats of Spray primer filler (Yellow) but tougher than blue s/putty
- Then 1 misty coat of black
