I just picked up a non working Asteroids cocktail machine and have a few questions. The machine is complete but on the main pcb there are 2 empty sockets, one at location C1 and another at at location N/P3, the board is rev 04 (04 being written in black ink on the board, looks like from the factory). From what I can find about the game, these are the game roms/proms? I turn the game on and get a hum then nothing (the red led on the pcb lights up and stays lit) so I assume I need to get these before any trouble shooting can begin. I saw that Arcadeshop sells an Asteroids High Score Save Kit and in reading the install directons it says you can remove the regular socketed roms after you install the kit and it comes with a rev2 rom for location N/P3. Is this true? If I buy the kit will it bypass these chips thus letting me see if the game will work and not have to find someone who sells the orginal chips that are missing?

I see Arcadeshop also sells monitor cap kits and power supply rebuild kits how good/complete are these? I would like to save on shipping of course and order parts I need, or will need at one time, but if there are other places that offer more complete kits and components then please let me know as I like to do things right and with the best parts the first time around. Your help is appreciated and if there are any additional parts not included in these kits that I may need then please let me know, there are no electronic parts places to walk in and buy components that I know of in my area other then Radio Shack (and we know they don't carry squat for parts) so I like to get what I need to have on hand while fixing stuff and not have to wait for the mail man. Thanks again this is my first vector game.

I've always had success with Bob Roberts. Its snail mail, but he is very professional, and has a wide selection of electrical parts.

Your cocktail will either have a Electrohome (EH G05-805) or a Wells Gardner (WG 15V2000).

Bob has a Monitor ID page located here. http://therealbobroberts.net/monitor.html.

Don't forget the Atari "Big Blue" Capacitor on the Transformer assembly, it may be good just to replace this.

Thanks for the response, the monitor is a (EH G05-805) the sticker is still on the side of the tube, so I will be looking it up on Bobs site.

Make sure you know how to discharge that monitor, you dont want to get zapped!!:001_ssuprised:

Yea I have been reading a lot of posts and sites telling how to do it, so I am confident that I will be able to do it without medical intervention! LOL

Just sent you a PM on the Bob roberts parts that you will need for revitalizing the monitor and pcb, as I just did this on my Asteroids cocktail cabinet.

What parts did you replace on the pcb? I have a Asteroids Deluxe, and I think some of the caps appear to be swollen, and should be replaced.

I ordered this Asteroids Cap Kit from Bob roberts.

not sure if your deluxe has more/less caps or not, though, as mine is just regular asteroids.

Also it wouldn't hurt to order the A/R Board cap kit also. I sent the part number to you in that email I sent you earlier this week.

Did the game come with manuals? I would get those first. Also..have you tried adjusting the brightness or coining up a game?
