Hello, I was considering buying this machine: http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/vgm/3339560805.html

I don't own any arcade/pinball machines though, and he was a little vague in his description of the problem. He said it won't turn on and that it probably means it needs a new power supply. Fixing computers on a regular basis I'm figuring it could be a bunch of other things wrong too... I tried looking up more information about arcade repair but just end up with dozens of tabs open and no idea where to begin. So I was wondering if based on the information given if you guys think it's as easy as finding a new PSU or if it's just something not worth buying. Thanks.

It is basically a crap shoot, the ad is gone btw. I would say if the price is cheap $0 to $150 and the condition of the machine is good, no water damage or anything like that and it is complete and original just go for it. Then when you get it home start looking at it. It could be as simple as an interlock or fuse or it could be a little more complicated but these games I consider generally easy to get going. Don't even bother plugging it in when you're buying it. It may work and they may want more for it then.

Hmm, that's strange, when I made this thread the listing still appeared to be active, and even after the first reply said it was closed I tried refreshing the page and it still seemed to be active. That was earlier today on my laptop but now that I'm home checking on my desktop I guess it really is over. Too bad too, it looked like it was in good shape. Anyways, thank you for the advice! I'll see if I can find any other similar listings.
