Asteroids board mystery modification

Has anyone ever seen this modification? The modification is at C5. Also found two wires that are soldered on two pins of C66. Not sure if these modifications are related. I did not see any place that they were soldered to at the other end of the wire. I am sorting out a monitor deflection issue but I can hear it and partially see it play. Any ideas???

Is it some type of AVG replacement? Totally guessing here. What do the switches do?

Asteroids is DVG, not AVG.

That hack just lets you control the system interupt speed via dip switches to speed up the game.

Thanks for the info. Do you think the two wires that are soldered onto two pins of C66 have anything to do with this mod or were they possibly used as retrace wires or some other thing? Any thoughts?

I am an idiot because I keep referring to the chip located at N11 as C66!

Which pins are the wires connected to on N11? N11 is an LS174 and handles the Lamp, LED and Coin Counter Output according to the schematics.

I believe it would be pins 2 and 15. Could someone run wires from those pins to make a coin up botton?

The two wires are part of the mod and they connect to that small pcb somewhere.

And you know this because.....?

Would make sense because the cord length looks correct. I will have to look at the board when I get home and see if I can find solder points.

I've repaired one with this mod before.
