I bought a Asteriods machine that has a monitor blooming problem. The scores are off the screen, and the space ship and rocks are double in size. I am told it is a H1809 HV Diode that is bad.

I ordered the diode, and was wondering where it is located. Is it in the HV cage where the red anode wire comes out of and goes to the tube? Do I open the HVcage, and is the diode obvious. Does it snap in or solder?

I have never discharged a monitor before. Do I need to do that before opening the HV cage? Do I need to discharge the diode area also? Can I reach in and replace the diode without discharging anything including the monitor?

My Asteriods has a Amperex M50-102W Tube. I assume it replaced the original Wells Gardner 19V2000. Does this mean that the chasis board and HV cage and flyback are all the original Wells Gardner, and the tube was just swapped out? I want to recap the monitor, and do not know what caps to get. I assume you get caps for a 19V2000. I cannot read anything on the HV Cage or chassis board that indicates the manufacturer.

Also, the center of the screen after stage one gets dim. The rocks and space ship are bright until they fly within a 5" diameter circle area in the center of the screen. When they fly through, they dim, and brighten back up when they fly out side this area. It only happens stage 2 and on, so it cannot be burn in. The rocks also have dots in the center that should not be there, and there is a permanent dot near the center of the screen, but not directly center. I assume the HV Diode and a cap kit may fix these problems?

What does monitor rejuvenation do, and how is it done? TV tech?

Thanks

What is the monitor chassis type? Is it a WG19V2000 or an Electohome G05-01. Never mind what the tube says what is the # on the monitor circuit board.
