I have a working Asteroids and a non-working Asteroids Deluxe. Can I put the Asteroids Deluxe PCB in the Asteroids cab to test if it works?

KLOV already has answers for questions such as this.
No matter what anyone says, the search feature does work if you use it. LOL

What VectorCollector said. It's best to always take a minute to search before asking the forum, as you'll almost always find better answers in the 20+ years of archives here, than whoever happens to be online at any given moment.

(Also for another tip, use the Advanced Thread Search page, not the widget in the upper right corner of every page. The widget sucks, and the Advanced Search gives much better results. And it lets you search thread titles vs bodies, which is hugely useful.)

Here's another thread with the answer to your question, and link to a thread I wrote, with additional info, if you want to know more about the details. (As similar things apply for putting an Asteroids PCB in an AD cab, vs an AD board in an Asteroids cab. The short answer is yes, you can do it to test the board, however the picture will be flipped and the controls won't work right.)

All of this said, also be aware that swapping boards is generally NOT a good idea for troubleshooting vector games. It's fine for raster games. But for vector games, a bad game board can damage a good monitor. So you want to be careful, and you really should troubleshoot using a DMM and/or a scope to test voltages and other things first. (There are MANY threads about how to do this, which you should find and read.) Otherwise you can end up with two non-working cabinets instead of just one.
