Nice solid cabinet with art and control panel in good shape (will add pictures tomorrow).
Game PCB repaired and covered by one year warranty.
High score save chip replaces the -143 ROM and retains top ten scores.
Zero burn-in CRT (transplanted from B&W television).
Connector pins on monitor boards resoldered and new high voltage diode installed (typical failure points).
One corner of the cardboard bezel has damage and there is a scratch through the instructional text on the plexiglass.
I just made a new back door (with proper ventilation slot) and installed new locks. Keys and original instruction manual and schematics included.

This is your "extra" 'Stroids, right?
Everyone who appreciates vectors, should have at least one Asteroids machine in their collection. IMHO

GLWTS :)

douglasgb, what kind of tv did you find the donor in, if you remember? Could use an extra tube myself. GLWS

I'm sorry I do not remember. I had two black and white TVs, and one of them had a tube that worked while the other had one that was the right socket but the wrong G1 voltage.

Slightly off topic, but do you happen to remember what the tube number was for that one? (19VEJP4, perhaps?) And/or do you recall what the behavior of it was? (too bright?) Or maybe you looked the info up and didn't actually try it.

I have a no-burn 19VEJP4, and it seems to act as if you can't turn the brightness down far enough. I have been wanting to see if a simple monitor mod could be done to get it to work.
Just as a learning exercise, but it would also open up the options for replacement tubes for these, as b/w tubes are getting harder to find in the wild.

I think it was either a 500BDB4 or 500MB4 out of a Toshiba television. While some CRT setup charts don't list it, the book inside my Sencore lists the 'Negative Bias' voltage. For the 19VARP4 it is 36v, while the tube that did not work wanted 52v. I did try it to see what would happen, and without enough negative bias more electrons made it all the way to the phosphor coating. In other words, it was too bright no matter how low the brightness control was set.

Thanks for the welcome. This is my third machine. I also have a Donkey Kong and Ms. Pac Man. When I was a kid, we had a cocktail Asteroids for a few years. My mom's cousin had an arcade and lent it to us for a while. I am just as bad at Asteroids now as I was when I was a kid. But I expect that my skills will be improving in the near future.
