As if I didn't already have enough projects... I picked up a TMNT cab! ;)

TMNT was the one other cab I've wanted REALLY bad so when one popped up on CL for only $200 I jumped all over it! It plays blind, coin doors need some attention, CPO will probably have to be replaced, but the artwork can probably get away with mostly touch-ups and the joysticks/buttons are in good shape and appear to be original. The seller was really cool about it and I'll probably end up helping him build a MAME cab for his kids who had apparently completely mastered TMNT.

Once I get it working I guess I'll end up selling my two TMNT PCBs I had been holding on to, LOL. I then plan on eventually putting my Turtles in Time board in this cab along with a switcher so that I have both TMNT games available ;).

And without further delay, here are the pics (please excuse the mess, still rearranging the garage):

Talk about nostalgia.... I played this when it was new at Aladdin's Castle in my local mall. I remember it being so popular there would be 4 players on it at once. Same time period, I remember the arcade having Klax, Dynasty Wars, Toki, Alien Syndrome, Cyberball, Hard Drivin, UN Squadron, Strider, and others I'm sure.

Man, as much as I want to restore this to "original" condition, I must admit that the front graphic and green t-molding is tempting... ;). Your TMNT cab came out REALLY nice!

I honestly can't remember playing it with all 4 players unfortunately. TMNT has a HUGE nostalgia factor for me. I used to go nuts over the toys, cartoon, and comics in the 80's. There was a skating rink within walking distance of my house growing up (Semoran Skateway for anyone who might be in the Orlando area) which had a TMNT when it was brand new. I remember being completely in awe of this game when it came out. The attract sequence with music from the cartoon lured me out of many quarters ;). I wanted this cab more than ANY other!

Strider is another nostalgic one for me as it used to be at the movie theater my friends worked at so I played it a lot in the mid-90's. My only memory of Hard Drivin was playing it once when I was maybe 10 and being instantly infuriated ;).

green t-molding can be easily changed out :D
A very good point... :D

Damn, you have some good taste in games my good man.
Thanks! :)

Nice score! Talk about a deal for 200. That thing is in awesome shape man!
I feel the same way. Even if the monitor needs significant work (I won't get a chance to even look at it for a couple weeks most likely) the important/hard to fix things are in good shape to include the Wico joysticks.

It no longer plays blind! This was my first time working on a monitor and it was a lot easier than I had expected. It had a K7000 which I recapped , replaced the flyback (was the old white knob version), and reflowed a few suspect solder joints.

Here was the result: http://youtu.be/Luh9RVBwUi4

Also, I have a thread on the Wico Joystick refurbishing here: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=260033

I got a new CP Overlay from GameOnGraphix for Christmas which hopefully will go on tomorrow ;)

Great job on this find! This was the first cab I started looking for when I ended up with my Playchoice. Five cabs later, and still no TMNT. Still, sick monitor restore!! Looks amazing!
